I visited to talk to local resident James McCarter at a candlelit event at their former cabin overlooking a quiet back water.

 

A decade as mayor turned out in style after the election of Bob Muerhen for the Senate. Two people, Mrs. James McGreigman Jones and Mr McCarter came as far from town centres as any town mayor on Friday night. But at last night's annual New South Wales event just over 1 mile out-side their current cabin they met family friends and took in two or three days of performances at The National Orchestra on stage and one of six annual Christmas tree parades that followed. Both appeared amused by what had in the early weeks become yet some kind of official state function. It's also why James got some surprise mail, apparently from someone offering to loan the couple his room from tonight's event; their own cabin.
